Zia Bettina was a "grandmother figure" for me, having lost mine way too soon. Thank you for sharing family stories about life in Italy and the sacrifies made for a better life when you came to Canada. We will miss you Zia Bettina! Rest in peace.

Condolence: Mario,Carmela, Frank, Filomena, and to the whole Valvano and Salandra family. My sincerest condolences for the loss of Zia Bettina. She was such a special lady, there are not enough words and the proper words to describe how much. She was an important part of our lives!! Remembering taking the "big" trips to Toronto from Niagara Falls to go see her and the rest of the family. What beautiful memories. I am so sad to hear of her passing. I tried to call her around Christmas time only to find out that she had gotten hurt. She will always have a special place in my heart! God Bless you all during this difficult time and may God Bless her soul. She will definately be one of the brightest angels in Heaven.

Condolence: Mommanonna loved all the people, she ensured to tell me that many times my last visit to see her. I have been truely blessed to have had her in my 27years of her light and love. I am honoured to share her name and to live the life of "loving the people".

I will miss hearing her voice on the phone "Hello my sweet!", I will miss her radiant smile, her warm hugs and her kisses. What comforts me is knowing that she is reunited with her loved ones.

Condolence: Unfortunately bad news travels fast and I have just learned from my mother that your dear Zia Bettina has passed away and we wanted to send your families our most sincere condolences on behalf of my parents and myself...I do not have any direct contact details for Rudy, Mario and Anna Valvano and therefore would greatly appreciate if you could pass our sincere condoloences. Zia Bettina on Hillside Ave has always been very close to our family and we all share great memories of her with her golden heart character. I can still see here sitting on her chair in the kitchen next to the old telephone on the wall with the long cable where she would spend hours on the phone with everyone, always willing to listen and comfort everyone.

Condolence: In offering my condolences, they go out to all that knew and loved Zia Bettina – family and friends. We all feel a little emptier today with her loss. Words cannot begin to describe the wonderful, loving woman that she was. She offered her love to everyone that she met and expected nothing back in return. Whether you spoke to her a day ago or a year ago, it did not matter to her. She greeted everyone that called her and visited her with a joy to hear from them.

My life is full of wonderful memories of Zia Bettina. As a child, I knew her as Mammanonna. Even though she was not my Mammanonna, she filled that role for me and showed me the love as her own grandchild. I grew up, got married, had my own family and she was there for me and my family every step of the way. A smile, a kiss on the cheek and a package home of cookies, pizza, and anything else she had to give. Just last night, the kids were looking forward to their next visit to have some cookies and we had to let them know she was now in heaven. She was always happy to hear from us and see us.

I know my story is just one of the hundreds that we all share. She was surrounded by people that she loved and loved her back. We all mourn her loss today.

Rest in peace Mammanonna. They don’t make them like you anymore. Thank you for all that you gave us.
