Condolences

Condolence From: Hitesh Patel
Condolence: Our family’s mother has passed away. I would like to share words that I hope reflect the feelings of all my cousins, as together we will always be the grandsons and granddaughters of Mai. Mai lived a long and joyous life for many years. She remained healthy for the overwhelming majority of her life and only struggled in the last few years. Her life spurred living in three different continents, a life of over 90 years and she directly raised over a dozen of her grandchildren, including myself. For us, who were raised by her. We knew Mai. Mai demanded obedience and discipline. She was tough. But she was always caring of our parents, fond of her grandchildren and was always wholeheartedly devoted to her family. To end, I would like to briefly reflect on life and death. “We live to cease; thus, we live to die.” Some say that death is what give our lives purpose. It ignites our lives with value, with limits and with a timeframe. However, it is what we can accomplish in that time, this is what will outlast our existence on earth. Today, I would like to encourage you all to look around you. At family, at love, and at the respect and devotion that we have for one another. These are the things that will outlive Mai. Simply because, these are the values that Mai spend her entire life instilling in us. God bless Mai and God bless our family.
