Barry Cornforth

Barry was born on May 8th, 1940 in Darlington, England and had a peaceful passing in the ICU at St. Joseph’s Health Centre on April 22, 2018 after battling with ALS for 6 years.

Barry was an engineer in the British Merchant Navy and immigrated to Canada in 1986, becoming a Canadian citizen in 1990. Barry enjoyed working at Harbour Front on The Jubilee Queen and The Empress of Canada, mainly as an engineer.

Barry married Freda Mary Bailey in 1988 in a ceremony in Las Vegas, USA after dating for 6 years.

In 1993 Barry and Freda immigrated to Fort Lauderdale, USA. When Barry had itchy feet after one year, they returned to Canada. Upon his return he went back to working on cranes and hoists , as well as the party boats.

In 2003, Barry and Freda joined the Mimico Cruising Club.

Barry loved dancing, walking, travelling, cycling, and being on the water. Barry enjoyed life to the fullest and best of all, intelligent conversation.

Barry wished that donations be made the ALS Society in lieu of flowers.
