Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Kyle Hallowell at age 31 on May 14, 2019. He will be forever missed by Ciara, his beloved wife; his loving parents, Doug and Christine; his younger brother, Brad and partner Stefani.

Kyle will never be forgotten by his large extended family and huge circle of friends. He is survived by his grandmothers, Patricia and Merelyn; his uncle Ken and aunt Leslie; his aunt Lynne, uncle Keith, and cousins Heather, Colleen and Ashley; his mother and father-in-law, PJ and Anne; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Donal, Mairéad, Grainne, Ian, Sinead, Adrian, Aisling, Paul, Pauric, Aine, Aoife, and Andrea; his nieces and nephews; and all his extended family.

Kyle was always the life of the party. Whether he was entertaining family and friends at a
backyard barbeque or beating everyone in a game of golf, his infectious laugh always brought a smile to those around him. He loved to joke and tease and always told incredibly entertaining stories of his daily encounters. Kyle was very active and always on the go. He could regularly be found going for runs in the city, bike rides with friends, or participating in endurance events. Kyle’s competitive spirit brought him many successes, from excelling at sports to taking everyone’s money at the card table. He was the first to know about the best deals around, whether it was on a new TV or a trip to Mexico (“got the deal!”).

Kyle’s passion for travelling and adventure brought him to the love of his life, Ciara. After completing his business degree at Brock University in 2009, Kyle moved to Ireland to experience living abroad. Shortly before returning to Canada, Kyle met Ciara through a mutual friend and never looked back. Kyle and Ciara were married in Ireland on June 13, 2013 and built a beautiful life together in Toronto, Ontario. Kyle’s next big adventure was to become a father, which he was very excited about. He would have been an amazing dad and his spirit will live on in his son who is due in September 2019.

Kyle lived his life to the fullest and has inspired us all to do the same. As he put it best: “Let’s GO!”
Kyle will be deeply missed by his friends and family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Toronto.

Dear Chris and Doug
I have many fond memories of the two little boys from colony trail. Kyle was the first born of any friend or family of mine. I got to hold him as a new born. Show him that brushing teeth was fun. Teach him funny songs and voices, show him how to be a king pin at the bowling alley. Watch him fall asleep on a moving snowmobile. To the Hallowells, Seawrights, Lawsons and Stonemans thank you for always treating me so good. I grieve with you. I loved that little boy. Regret not meeting the man. Rest comfortably Dear Kyle knowing you were loved by so many. I was proud to be your Uncle Prof.

I am so grateful that my son Greg, became good friends with Kyle in university. Kyle put the travel bug in Greg and if not for Kyle, Greg would not have experienced the adventures that he did without Kyle. They went to Vegas, the Dominican and they lived in Ireland for 10 months and travelled Europe before heading home. Greg and I will always remember the wonderful, kind and decent person Kyle was and we offer our deepest condolences to his wife and family.
