Obituary for Mitchell Mackey
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mitchell Garfield Mackey on May 16th, 2020 at the age of 78. Beloved husband to Diane (Quigg) for over 52 years. Loving father to Kate Quasdorf and her husband Ingo, and Heather Mackey-Raymond and her husband Andy. Adoring grandfather to Robert, Kurtis, Jakob, Hadley & Mitchell. Born in Haliburton, one of 15 children, he moved to Mimico in 1967 and worked at Goodyear for over 20 years.
He had a gentle soul and a generous nature. He was our head chef, master gardener, and family handyman. He was always there to lend his time, talents, and considerable tool collection to any project. Through his steadfast example, he taught us life lessons both big and small. From the value of honest hard work and resiliency; to the simple joys of tending a vegetable garden and baking homemade bread. He will be greatly missed.
