Obituary for DANIELA JAREMA (Walachniewicz)

Daniela Jarema (Walachniewicz)
Born January 3, 1928 in Lodz, Poland.
Daniela will be lovingly remembered by all those whose lives she touched. Beloved wife of the late Tadeusz. Loving mother of Fryderyk (Jan) and John (Jane) Jarema.
Proud grandmother of Jamie, Michael (Tamara), Lesley (Kyle),Stephanie (Noah), Andrea (Mark), Annamarie and Aleksandra.Great grandmother to 10 great grandchildren: Alexis, Margaux, Devon,Liam, Chase, Jaheim, Teressa, Cyrus, Lily, and Ella.

Daniela was born in Lodz, Poland.During WWII, at the age of 14, she was taken by the Nazis to work in a munitions factory for the remainder of the war. After liberation by the Allies, she remained in a refugee camp, where she met and married her husband, Tadeusz, in 1947. They emigrated to Canada in late 1949 to start their new life. Tadeusz worked in the mines in Kirkland Lake until 1953, when they relocated to Toronto. Here they lived in a Polish community near St. Stanislaw Parish before moving to Etobicoke in1962. Daniela worked for Loblaws on Front and Bathurst for a number of years before switching to various jobs closer to home. Dominion Plastics was her employer in Etobicoke. Daniela was a kind and gentle woman, always smiling and making everyone feel at home and at ease whenever they were with her. Known as “Babcia” to family and friends, she lived for her children and grandchildren and later for her great grandkids. They were always her pride and joy. She loved knitting and all the family were never in need of slippers and berets, as she was constantly making these items and more. She lived a life of gratitude for family and friends. She will certainly be missed by everyone, but her memory will always live on.

The family would like to thank the staff at Copernicus Lodge (Floor #1 South) for their loving and gentle care over the last few years.

Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, August 12, 2022 at 11 a.m. St. Casmir’s Catholic Church, 156 Roncesvalles Ave., Toronto, ON at 11 a.m.
