Obituary for PETER INGRAM

PETER IAN INGRAM

December 13, 1930 – February 17, 2023

Peter was born in Montreal, Quebec. He was welcomed by his parents Peter and Alexandra (Macdonald), older sister Cecilia (Knapp) and later joined by younger brother Alistair. Peter was very active in sports throughout his school years and enjoyed playing hockey at an elite level. Peter met the love of his life, Shirley Malcolm, at BYPU (a very active Montreal wide youth group) and they were married in 1955. Their family celebrated the arrival of daughter Lesley while in Winnipeg and son David while in Calgary. Years later, “Poppi” was further blessed by the arrival of grandson Clancy and granddaughter Cece.

After initially working with the CNR, Peter joined Simmons Ltd and worked with them for over 36 years. Peter was transferred from the Montreal office to the Winnipeg office for a two-year period, and then on to Calgary to open the Simmons Ltd. plant in 1966. Peter and the family loved their time in Calgary, especially skiing in the Rockies. The Ingrams were transferred to Toronto in 1976 where Peter went on to earn his Executive MBA from Western University. Peter retired from Simmons Ltd in 1996.

In retirement Peter accepted an invitation to join the choir at their home church at Kingsway Baptist Church and looked forward to choir practice every Thursday night and singing at Sunday services. Peter was an avid golfer and member of Lambton Golf Club for 45 years. He enjoyed playing 18 holes of golf daily and had his first hole-in-one at the age of 84.

Peter is dearly missed by his family, siblings, nieces and nephews, and friends.
