ZDYBAL, Maria Rozalia

It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of Maria ZDYBAŁ (nee GAL),  the matriarch of our family, who passed away peacefully at home, with family at her side on Monday April 10, 2023 in her 85th year of life.

Born on May 20, 1938 in Stawki, Poland and raised in Wróblowka, na Podhalu. Maria was the last surviving sibling of 9 children in the Gal family.

Predeceased by her husband Walerian (2001) and her grandson Matthew (2021). Beloved Mama of Jasiu and (Janina) Nina Zdybał, Rysiu and Diane Zdybał, Tadziu Zdybał, and Danusia and Jasiu Góra. Most loved Babcia of Craig, Eric, Krystyna and Jacob, Thomas, Julia and Daniel, Victoria and Conrad. Beloved Ciocia (Aunt), Godmother and cousin to many family members in Canada, USA, Poland and Białoruś. 

After settling in Canada, Maria was a long-time employee of Our Lady of Mercy/St. Joseph’s Hospital in Toronto. She was a founding member of the Polish Highlanders Association in Canada (Zwiazek Podhalan w Kanadzie) and a long time parishioner of her beloved St. Casimir’s RC Church in Toronto. She was an active member and volunteer of the Rosary Circle (Towarzystwo Różańcowe) until her illness did not allow. She had unwavering faith in God until her final days on this Earth.

Friends will be received at the St. John's Dixie Cemetery Visitation Centre, 737 Dundas St. E., Mississauga on Thursday April 13th from 2-5 & 6-9 p.m.  Rosary 7 p.m.. Funeral Mass Friday April 14th at 11 a.m. in St. Casimir's RC Church, 156 Roncesvalles Ave., Toronto.  Burial to follow at St. John's Dixie Cemetery.
