Obituary for PHILIP HOYT

Phil Hoyt was born August 27, 1938 in Fredericton New Brunswick to Percy and Sarah Hoyt. He passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday May 14, 2023 at home. Phil spent his childhood at Barker’s Point, Fredericton, New Brunswick. He left his home to come to the

big city in 1970. He worked as brick layer all of his life until he retired. On October 28, 1989 Phil married, Theresa Yates. They made Etobicoke their home. They spoiled their shih tzu-poodles, Charlie and Alvin.



He is survived by two sisters: Nancy and Shirley. He is predeceased by his siblings: Elizabeth, Sheryl and Robert. Proud father of Anthony (Tammy), Kim (Randy), Tracy (Carol), Steven (Shannon) and Philip. He was happy to be called Grandpa by Cyneetra, Sakisha, Stephanie, Ryan, Peyton, Tyson, Cory, Kai, Jayla, Lexie, Kylie, Anthony, Shyanne and Jason. Great Grandpa to Cayden.



Phil was an avid reader of western books until the end. He couldn’t get enough of the spaghetti Western movies. He loved country music when country wasn’t cool. He looked forward to dancing with T in his younger years. Uncle Phil is loved by his many nieces and nephews.



A visitation will be held at the G.H. Hogle Funeral Home on Friday, May 19, 2023 from 9-10:45am, family eulogy at 10:30 a.m.. A private burial will follow at St. Andrew’s-St. James Cemetery.
