Obituary for KATIE MASON

Katie Shirley Ann Mason age 50, passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 7, 2024.

Born on December 3, 1973 Katie lived as Katie wanted, celebrating her life and being kind to everyone from her beginning to her end, she was always worried if everyone was OK. Katie touched the lives of so many people along the way.  Making not only their lives better and happier but also her own.  She always had a smile on her face for her friends and family and if you weren’t a friend you soon would be.  That’s the kind of person Katie was, loyal and true to everyone she took into her life

When she was a young girl she wanted to be a veterinarian, she loved animals. At one point she was determined to change her name to Katie BUTTERFLY Mason and was quite upset when we wouldn’t let her. But life made different choices for Katie, she had a baby girl when she was a teenager and decided to put her up for adoption so she could  have a better life.  Young Kate would reunite with her mother later in both their lives. Katie ended up not taking care of animals or a child but taking care of homeless, abused and lonely young people that she met on the street.

Katie loved wrestling. Khaotic Kate as she was known ended up being a co-anchor of a wrestling podcast and just loved it. It not only connected her to the wrestling game but also gave her a chance to use that mouth that she was so famous for.

Katie met Darren about 26 years ago and they settled down together. Then Breast Cancer struck Katie and with the help of those around her and her Best Friend Emma she won that fight, but unfortunately Cancer wasn’t done with our Katie yet and on January 7 2024 Cancer finally took Khaotic Katie down for the final count.

Katie was loved by everyone she met and she loved them.  The last year or so Katie was set on changing her life and she began helping even more people through her Church along with her Best Friend Emma. So to help fulfill Katie’s legacy of making a difference to even more people we ask that donations be made to the Martin Luther Evangelical Church at 2379 Lakeshore Blvd W let’s help Katie make that difference for everyone in her community

Katie is survived by her partner Darren Swain, her daughter Kate Spain (Nick), her grandson Aiden, as well as her Sister Rebecca  (Brian) and Rebecca’s daughters Sarah (Brad) and Amanda (Mike) and Amanda’s children Aubree and James.

She is also survived by her Mother Bernice Marshall and her Step-Father Moxy, her Father Brian Mason and her 93 yr old Grandmother Elsie Wilson.

Kate was a force to contend with and she has left a huge hole in all of our lives  We love you Kate🦋❤️
