A Happy Memory
I’ve had the honour of calling Nick my friend for over 40 years and have always known that under that tough exterior laid a heart of gold. Something not everyone was privy to.
I can remember getting a phone call from Nick 19 years ago in the middle of the night (I live in Germany), telling me that he was ” in love”. Of course, I was thrilled for him. Then he told me who he was in love with. After I picked my jaw off the floor and I recovered my composure, I realised what an amazing fit he and Nancy would make. I’ve known Nancy even longer than I have known Nick and I knew that she could hold her own with Nick and his “naughty humour” and “wicked ways”.
Nick has been taken from us far too early but I know that he left us, happier than he had ever been. He was madly in love with Nancy, he adored his children and grandchildren and treasured his friendships.
Nick’s passing has left such a huge hole in my heart, a hole, that will not soon heal.
Rest in Peace my dear friend.
