With sadness we announce the passing of Romeo Samuel DeLangis at the age of 87.
Our beloved father and our eternal friend left us on Friday January 31st, 2020.

Born in Montreal on May 31st, 1932 to Romeo DeLangis Sr. and Blanche Bois.
He moved to Hamilton, ON. at an early age to work at National Steel Car with his Father.

On January 28th, 1955 he married his sweetheart Shirley Muriel Williams and together they raised two sons, Micheal and Maurice and three daughters
Michelle, Melinda and Mila.

Romeo was always an entrepreneur and together our parents embarked on many, many endeavours while raising a family of five, most notably the fostering of many
children over the years through The Children's Aid Society.

Romeo enjoyed playing euchre with our Aunts and Uncles and his friends, enjoyed square dancing, and was the infamous ring leader of Akka Bakka as well as all sorts of other mischief.

Romeo was predeceased by his wife Shirley. He is survived by his children Micheal (Lanore), Maurice, Michelle (Dale), Melinda and Mila, his sisters Lucille and Claudette and his brother Henry, his grandchildren Justin, Taylor, Crystal Shawn, Forrest, Arrow, Thunder, Rashell, Joseph, Brian Jr, Zackarie and Clarke, as well as his two great-grandchildren, Cameron and Ethan. He leaves behind his nieces, nephews and in-laws Jean, Harry, Emelyn, Harvey, Linda and Sue.

A heartfelt thanks to Cate, Placido and all the staff at Cooksville Care Centre.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday February 18th, 2020 at G.H. Hogle Funeral Home on Mimico Ave. from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. with service to begin at 2:30 p.m.

Growing up next to Tabby's variety and playing with the Delangis kids. We didn't realize how fortunate we were to be a part of the Delangis family. I have many fond memories of my childhood however, there is one I reminisce about almost every spring when Dairy Queen opens. I was around 8 or 9 when Romeo held a contest for free ice cream at his ice cream parlor. Well, I was one of those kids. The highlight of that day was I got to make my very own banana split, that was almost 50 years ago. Over the years we cross paths several times, Romeo never changed always remembered me, telling stories or corny jokes. I'm going to your warm friendly smile Mr. Delangis. Till we meet again may you have a blast...

Akka-Bakka! That was Dad's favorite game when a new, unsuspecting visitor attended a family get-together. They always left with a wet bottom. LOL. I remember, even as a kid how hard of a worker Dad was. During the summer school holidays I would ride with him in the bread truck making deliveries. We even delivered to the "Witch's" house one time. I recall one time making a delivery, Dad was out of the truck, walking past the front. I watched him through the large window. All of a sudden a dog came out barking and running at him....I never seen my Dad run so fast! He was back in the truck in a blink. Dad really loved Mom, He always supported her ideas. Even if she had to make him :-) I remember when Melinda was struck by a car, in Hamilton, when she was very young. She was very close to death. I think God let us have her back because he knew how she would lovingly take care of Dad ( and Mom ) in their later years. Mila also devoted her home and time to Dad's care. G'night Dad.

One of my favorite memories is of my Dad trying to scare the kids in the car, and he always did!
It always happened when we would be going to visit Aunt Ruby and Uncle Oscar and along the long country road in the middle of nowhere there was a spooky house that Dad always said it was the witches house.. as we approached, he would tell us and then turn off the headlights and flick on the windshield wipers, he drove those few hundred feet in the pitch dark until we passed the house saying the witch did that .. i wish we could do it again.
